28th March 2018 – eShopWorld has presented the award for Best Fashion Designer sponsored by eShopWorld at the Fashion Innovation Award to Balseca Weber as this year’s Innovation Meets Fashion event drew to a close in Lugano, Switzerland.

The Loomish Fashion Innovation Award is a call to small companies and start-ups in the fashion industry to present innovative digital or technological solutions to disrupt the world of fashion and address issues that they identify within the industry. The shortlisted entrants had the opportunity to meet with and pitch their ideas to investors and world class fashion and retail brands gathered in Lugano, before the winners were announced today.

This year’s winning entries were selected by a judging panel of investors, digital experts, fashion and retail leaders and academics. The overall Fashion Innovation Award was shared among four entrants – Aryla, Reallook, Eyefitu and Newstore.

Commenting, eShopWorld CEO Tommy Kelly said:

The Fashion Innovation Award facilitates the critical interaction between today’s retail and fashion industry leaders and the next generation coming through. Their ideas need to be given platform, voice and most importantly, investment so that they can thrive.

The finalists that the judges have met over the last two days show that our industry is in a continuing state of disruption, which is great to see. eShopWorld has itself fundamentally disrupted the way that brands enter new markets, bringing substantial benefits for them. Disruption brings opportunity for all of us and is to be welcomed and learned from.

The Best Designer winner was presented with a cheque for CHF 5,000, with the overall winners taking home a package including meetings with c-level executives of well-known fashion brands who are looking for new solutions; coaching and mentoring from Loomish; meetings with investors (venture capital and private equity); visibility at several top industry events; access to services and software packages and office space for one year.

eShopWorld is one of the world’s leading eCommerce-enabling companies, allowing global brands to localise their online offering in up to 200 markets around the world. It works with some of the world’s most iconic lingerie, fashion and sportswear brands, managing the global eCommerce requirements of 5 of the top 10 apparel brands. It has been ranked Ireland’s fastest growing technology company for the last three years by Deloitte.
