shoptalk 2018 recap

From March 19 to 21, eShopWorld attended Shoptalk at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas.

With around 7,500 attendees, including major global companies such as Alibaba, Amazon, eBay, Flipkart, Nike, Sephora, Target and Walmart, Shoptalk is the largest retail and eCommerce conference in the world.

The conference began with opening remarks from Shoptalk’s Anil D. Aggarwal, Simran Rekhi Aggarwal and Zia Daniell Wigder, followed by 3 keynotes from the CEOs of Macy’s and Target, and VPs from Amazon.

This year’s exhibit hall was enormous, with room for booths from global retail and eCommerce companies, and space for facilitating different Tracks with industry experts, 1-to-1 speed date sessions and evening programs.

One of the most interesting discussions was around membership and how retailers such as Nike and ULTA, who reward their loyal customers, see high return rates:

Other topics discussed at the conference included the future of voice technology:

VR and mobile checkouts:

AI and supply chain:

Overall, the event was well-organised, and eShopWorld had the chance to meet with a number of brands over the three days, including during our whiskey tasting:

Shoptalk is an excellent opportunity for global retailers to network and share ideas about the future of the industry and we look forward to attending again in 2019.
